Welcome to the blog of the Lakewood 2010 Rebranding Campaign.

The purpose of this blog is to keep the residents of Lakewood informed, and more so to get feedback and input as the project progresses.

In the coming weeks and months we will update this message forum with discussions and ideas that are on the drawing board. We invite you to follow along and share your opinions with us.

Thank you for joining us on this exciting journey.

And Here They Are…

7/28:

In late 2009, the Township of Lakewood and the Lakewood UEZ set about on a plan to revitalize Lakewood’s image in the eyes of it residents, surrounding communities and the business world.

As residents, we know Lakewood has a lot to offer. It’s a great place to work, raise a family and grow a business. Unfortunately, the world doesn’t know it. This re-branding campaign hopes to change all that.

As part of its first phase of the project, the Township is seeking comments from its residents on the proposed logos. It is our honor and pleasure to present the larger Lakewood community the two identity options that have made it to this point.

Please take a look, study the options and their meanings, and  give us all you’ve got.

WHAT IS THIS LOGO SAYING?

Utilizing this bold  and strong rendition of the letter L represents Lakewood in the progressive, modern light towards which it is headed.

The icon’s bold body gives it great potential to branch out into sub-brands, as well as other marketing material, by making use of its inside to add iconic elements.

Also strong and modernized, the “L” in this concept forms a forward moving arrow. This will underscore our goal-oriented mindset for the new Lakewood – moving forward, ahead, upward towards growth.

In this case too, the “arrow” icon will be used to encase the icons for the various departments, and can be used strongly to expand the brand across the broad range of advertising and marketing materials.

So… what do you say? We look forward to hearing your comments here on the blog, or here at the official survey.

Project Update – Week of July 14

7/14:

So it’s been a long while, and we admit: we’ve been lousy about updating the public on the progress of this project. However, we have been hard at work, and here’s what we have to say.

For the past several months we’ve been researching and developing ideas and goals for the New Lakewood. A great, big thanks to all of you out there who responded to our questionnaire. It has helped us tremendously to gain insight on the opinions, perceptions — and hopes – of the Lakewood community at large. The broad spectrum of answers we received has assisted us in formulating clear objectives and ways to achieve them. For those who haven’t yet participated, your opinions still count! Feel free to download the survey and send it back to us.

What we did take from all of our research, focus groups and digging, has been discussed and developed, and is well on its way to being translated into the New Lakewood Brand.

In the next couple of days, we will be posting the potential Identity Marks being debated. We will be looking out for comments, opinions and open discussion on them. A public poll will be conducted, so be sure to weigh in with your recommendations and advice.

We look forward to continuing the process with you!

Welcome, Lakewood!

2/14:

As a launch to this campaign, we present to you the Lakewood Township’s current identity.

I’m sure you will all agree that we are past the horse and buggy era, and the time is ripe for our city’s brand overhaul. Please take a moment and fill out the Questionnaire to the right. Your input and say in this matter is invaluable.
